Weaver H. Gaines

Co-founder, Chairman, and CEO

Weaver Gaines has over 40 years of entrepreneurial, management, and legal experience, including over 25 years as a founder, fund-raiser, and manager of start-up life science companies. Most recently, he was a co-founder and CEO of OBMedical Company, a medical device company that developed and received FDA clearance for an electronic maternal fetal monitor, which was acquired by Philips Healthcare in 2018. From 2008 to 2017, Gaines was Chairman of the Board of Nanotherapeutics, Inc. (now Ology Bioservices, Inc.), a specialty pharma company and manufacturer of a bone extender cleared by the FDA. Prior that that, Gaines founded Ixion Biotechnology, a Florida-based, clinical-stage biotechnology company that developed stem cell and probiotic therapies focused on treatment of metabolic disorders. Ixion’s probiotic technology was acquired by QMed AB in 2007. Gaines received a BA from Dartmouth College and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and was an Infantry officer who served in Vietnam from 1969-70, with a final rank of Captain.


M. Blythe Karow

Blythe Karow has over 15 years of experience in medical device strategy, product development, product launch, and marketing, working both as a consultant and with medical device companies ranging from startups to Fortune 100s, including Medtronic, J&J, and Boston Scientific Neuromodulation Corporation. Her first invention was an image-guided catheter for use during MRI procedures, and she has a provisional patent application for an Evren device. Karow holds an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia, and a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.


Stephanie George

Co-founder, Vice President, and CFO

Stephanie George has extensive experience at the C Suite-level, including positions as CEO and CFO with various technology startups in Florida and worked primarily with financing and fundraising for those companies. Prior to getting an MBA, George worked in computer network design for 15 years. Since graduate school, she has worked in seed and early-stage tech companies in life sciences and software development and with seed and early stage investment funds focusing on technology-based companies. Her MBA is from the University of Florida, Warrington College of Business, with a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Technology Management and a concentration in Competitive Strategy; she has a BS degree in Computer Science, also from the University of Florida.
